Your Passionate LGBTQ+ Travel Consultants
Sashay Away Travel launched at the end of 2019. Our motive was quite simple. As LGBTQ+ people who love to travel, we recognised the urgent need for a fully comprehensive service that would safely, conveniently arrange travel and luxury accommodation for LGBTQ+ people. We noticed that we were often asking the same questions when it came to travel - ‘do you know any queer friendly destinations?’, or ‘do you know any gay friendly hotels?’
It was evident from our own experiences as folks with a passion for travel that the industry was severely lacking in services catered exclusively to LGBTQ+ needs. We love the world we live in, but as anyone identifying as LGBTQ+ knows, it doesn’t always love us back. In launching Sashay Away Travel, we endeavoured to create a safe space for travel lovers to easily arrange travel across the world using our affiliate hotels in the Select Hotels Scheme.
We see ourselves as champions of LGBTQ+ rights. As such, we always go the extra mile to ensure your safety and comfort, and want to make sure you’re in-the-know about your travel destination’s culture and laws.
When it comes to travel, there’s nothing worse than faceless business interactions. As your trusted LGBTQ+ Travel Consultants, we spend time building relationships with our affiliate hotels, so that we know they are completely in line with our own values.
It’s a fast world we live in, and patience is a virtue. We don’t waste time. With Virtuoso, you can book quickly and securely. Likewise, if you have any queries, we’ll always get back to you ASAP.
The hotels we represent through Global Travel Collection are sophisticated, luxury accommodations in enviable locations. We don’t compromise on quality – we only work with the best of the best.
Sashay Away Travel is a proud member of the Stonewall Foundation, an LGBTQ+ charity founded in 1990, when the AIDS crisis was at its tragic peak. Named in honour of the Stonewall Uprising in 1969, the charity logically connected the de facto beginning of the gay rights movement with the resistance movement that sprang up in the late eighties in response to the AIDS crisis.
With the memory of both historical moments in mind, it now continues to fund, consult and organise hundreds of nonprofits each year, including those tackling LGBTQ+ homelessness, transphobia, and supporting queer youth groups and people of colour. They have provided over $21 million worth of grants since founding, and are considered one of the top funders working to resolve issues of LGBTQ+ homelessness in the US.
As a registered corporate charity partner, we proudly provide regular donations from our income. We strive to match the philanthropic values of love and compassion that Stonewall Foundation stands on.
